Race countdown: The Finals, IM Frankfurt & Challenge Roth

It's that time again: all triathlon fans can look forward to a packed calendar of events this weekend and the one that follows.

23-26 June: The Finals 2022 and Ironman Frankfurt

This weekend there is a triathlon in a double pack. "The Finals 2022" - the German championships in 14 different sports - will take place in Berlin , including the decisions on the triathlon sprint distance.

As part of the "Finals" will also take place on Saturday, June 25th. The Berlin City Triathlon , a race for everyone over the sprint distance, also takes place on the same competition route: swimming in the Wannsee, cycling on the Havelchaussee, running at the Olympic Stadium - a unique backdrop.

Sunday, 06/26 - "the longest day of the year". The Main metropolis in triathlon fever. Maybe also the hottest day of the year. Those who start in Frankfurt usually have to be prepared for a heated battle. Last year's defending champion , Swede Patrik Nilsson , will defend his title on Sunday. Among the German pros, Boris Stein and Nils Frommhold in particular have a chance for one of the three Kona slots. At 6:25 a.m. the professional athletes (men / women) start, from 6:35 a.m. the approximately 3,000 age group athletes plunge into the Langener Waldsee using the rolling start method. Hessischer Rundfunk broadcasts the race in full from 6:15 a.m. on TV and in the live stream.

After a brief respite, the absolute classic follows on the following weekend:

July 3: Challenge Roth

The biggest triathlon spectacle in Germany. In the 20th edition as a "Challenge" event (previously Ironman Germany) ALL the big names have announced themselves: Jan Frodeno, Anne Haug, Patrick Lange and Sebastian Kienle. Unfortunately, Kienle had to cancel the start at short notice due to a corona infection. Nevertheless, the "myth" Roth remains untouched. The legendary Solarer Berg will also return to the route in 2022 and will be driven on twice. The entire region lives and breathes triathlon - pure goose bumps!

From 6:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Bayerischer Rundfunk will be broadcasting live on television, with a two-hour break from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you don't want to miss anything, you can follow the entire race in the BR live stream.
