On 08/21 is the starting signal for the Allgäu Triathlon. In addition to top international triathletes and many young German hopefuls, there will also be a celebrity relay with Britta Steffen, Andriy Grivko and Mischa Zverev

The Middle Distance - A Bucket List Race

The favorite for the women's middle distance is IRONMAN Frankfurt winner Daniela Bleymehl from Team Erdinger Non-Alcoholic. Bleymehl on her start: “The Allgäu Triathlon is definitely a bucket list race in our sport. This year it fits perfectly into the schedule to Kona. I didn't want to let the opportunity pass me by." Svenja Thoes (31), winner of this year's IRONMAN France, and last year's winner Sarah Schönfelder (24), among others, want to challenge her for victory on the demanding courses in Immenstadt im Allgäu. Els Visser (Netherlands, 32, Allgäu Triathlon winner 2019) and Valentina d'Angeli (Italy, 37, winner 70.3 Italy) ensure international class. Verena Walter (41) and Sigrid Mutscheller (46, third in 2021) from Allgäu by choice will use their experience.

In the men's race, Nils Frommhold (36) and Erdinger Perspektiv athlete Thomas Ott (22) are the favorites to swim 1.9 km, cycle 84 km and run 20 km. Samuel Böttinger (28), who has a special memory of the Allgäu Triathlon 2021, is also part of the party. Last year he rushed off the podium to the clinic for the birth of his first child. Australia's Joel Wooldridge could become the surprise winner. The 21-year-old spends the summer in Switzerland training with legendary trainer Brett Sutton. He could annoy the established athletes accordingly. Here, too, Christian Brader (42) from Memmingen is a veteran who will use his experience. The professional field is completed by Philipp Mock (34) from Eschwege and Julian Fritzenschaft (31) from Hamburg.

Olympic distance - an exciting clash

On the Olympic distance, the former winners Anne Reischmann (30) and Kati Krüger (22) meet in an exciting encounter. Both have already been to the top of the podium and are probably in similar form after last year's 70.3 World Championships, where they were the top two German athletes.

In the men's category , it is mainly young athletes who already know each other from the Triathlon Bundesliga that start on the Olympic distance. Neilan Kempmann (20, former German Junior Champion) and Fabian Kraft (23) could win the race here.

Familiar faces have also announced themselves in the squadrons.

Olympic swimming champion Britta Steffen competes on the Olympic distance together with Mischa Zverev (tennis) and the former Ukrainian professional cyclist Andriy Grivko.

The start is designed as a charity event for tennis superstar Alexander Zverev's Sascha Zverev Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to research into type 1 diabetes. In terms of sporting potential, the relay team with the two specialists in swimming and cycling should also be able to achieve a top result.
