It's almost that time again: the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon - the race starts in Chieming am Chiemsee. Around 400 participants from 16 nations compete over the short and middle distances.
On Saturday, June 25, at 4:30 p.m., the middle distance will start at the lido in Chieming. 2 kilometers of swimming, 93 kilometers of cycling and 20 kilometers of running have to be completed. The short distance (1.5 km swimming, 31 km cycling, 10 km running) starts at 5 p.m. At around 6:45 p.m., the first athletes are expected to cross the finish line at the Chiemseering in Chieming.
Among other things, five relay teams from the team of former top biathlete Andi Birnbacher, who will compete over the short distance, will also be there. The multiple World Cup winner has already competed in several editions of the Chiemsee Triathlon and today successfully coaches biathletes who will face the triathlon challenge on June 25th. Also present is the multiple World Cup winner and Olympic bronze medalist Vanessa Hinz, who forms a relay as a swimmer together with Sophia Schneider (including silver at the European Championships in the mixed relay) as a cyclist and Franziska Pfnür as a runner. The Traunstein native and biathlon junior world champion of 2022 - Lisa Spark will compete as a runner in a relay together with Selina Kastl (junior vice European champions 2022 in the mixed relay) as a swimmer and with Stefanie Scherer as a cyclist. Marion Wiesensarter also comes from Traunstein and has already placed eleventh at the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz. She will compete as a cyclist in a relay.
Spectators are very welcome to follow the race up close along the route and to cheer on the participants in the fan zones, but also everywhere along the route. The fan zones set up are located at the swim start at the Chieming lido, at the bike passage in Chieming, at the turning point of the running course in Schützing and at the finish at the Chiemseering. At the finish, guests and spectators will also be spoiled with food and drinks by local clubs.
