Hochklassiges Starterfeld beim Frankfurt City Triathlon

Frankfurt City Triathlon: It will be an exciting race

Frankfurt City Triathlon promises to be an exciting race with its high-class starting field. Two former Olympic participants and other top triathlon athletes will be fighting for overall victory next Sunday.

There are only a few days left until around 2,500 athletes plunge into the waters of the Langener Waldsee and thus herald the next Frankfurt City Triathlon. The popular Frankfurt endurance event will be taking place for the twelfth time next Sunday.

Exciting duel on the swim course

This year there will again be some well-known athletes from the German triathlon scene. In addition to an eventful competition between last year's winners Lisa Gerß and Leonard Arnold, thanks to the two top swimmers Marco Koch and Lukasz Wojt, an exciting duel can be expected this year, especially on the swim course. As a former world champion and multiple Olympic participant in swimming, Marco Koch has now also dedicated himself to triathlon. But Lukasz Wojt can also score in the first discipline. The former competitive swimmer also has Olympic experience and got to know the routes last year when he took part in the Frankfurt City Triathlon for the first time. It remains exciting to see which of the two will be the first to come out of the water and whether their overall performance is sufficient to prevail against the other top athletes on the middle distance.

A triathlon for everyone

Of course, the Frankfurt City Triathlon not only offers space for the professionals. “We are happy that our race is so attractive to many professional triathletes. The special thing about the Frankfurt City Triathlon will always be that top athletes and hobby athletes start together. The shared passion for the sport and the shared experience for all performance classes are our priority,” says Annette Albers, the race director of the event. This objective is also reflected in the announcement of the race. With four out of five existing route formats, the Frankfurt City Triathlon offers one of the most varied offers in Germany. “We are pleased that the Frankfurt City Triathlon offers such a wide range of services in our city. The event is a great enrichment for popular sport in our city and at the same time forms a bridge between newcomers and high-class athletes in triathlon,” says Mike Josef, Head of Sports for the City of Frankfurt am Main.

Remaining places on site

Online registration for the popular Frankfurt race is now closed. If you still don't want to miss out on taking part, you can, with a bit of luck, get hold of one of the coveted remaining places at the start documents issue on site.

Road closures for safety

An event of this size requires a lot of organization. To ensure that all athletes can complete their competition safely, there will be some road closures on August 7th between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The running route in the city center is particularly affected, which starts at Rossmarkt and runs along Fressgasse and the Alte Oper via the Börsenplatz and the corner of Schillerstraße, Stephansstraße and Töngesgasse before it goes along the Zeil to the finish at the Hauptwache. But the bike route from Langener Waldsee to Frankfurt city center is also affected by road closures. Here, among other things, the B44 (Mörfelder Landstraße and Kennedyallee) must be completely closed towards the city centre. There are impairments along the Schaumainkai to the Schwanheimer Bridge and along the Mainzer Landstrasse.

To ensure that everyone involved and local residents can reach their destination on the day of the competition despite the closures, the organizer has been providing an interactive detour map for several years. These can be found on the Frankfurt City Triathlon website or at https://fct.placeit.de . Here you can see exactly what time the roads in question are affected and what detours are recommended.
