Dresden, July 27th, 2022 - The IRONMAN 70.3 DRESDEN planned for this Sunday has now been finally cancelled, the organizers announced on the event page of the race.
The reason for the cancellation is the lack of route permits, which were not granted even after long negotiations between the organizer and local authorities. However, talks are ongoing to be able to offer an alternative date in September .
All registered participants were immediately informed by email about the cancellation of the race:
Dear athlete,
It is with great disappointment that we have to inform you that the IRONMAN 70.3 Dresden planned for this Sunday, July 31, 2022 cannot take place as hoped. We are working with local authorities to arrange an alternative September date and will provide further information as soon as possible.
Despite intensive cooperation with the local authorities regarding the change to the bike course, we have determined through our further joint discussions and planning that we will not be able to implement the required standards for the course by the race date this weekend.
Due to the late change, we are committed to providing options that allow maximum flexibility for all athletes in this difficult situation.
We would like to express our great regret that we cannot see you this weekend and share the frustration of all the athletes who have not only been patient with our course changes, but above all have trained hard for months to join us to experience a great race this weekend. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.
We will give all participants another update by August 5th and thank you in advance for your patience during this difficult time. If you need further assistance in the meantime, please contact dresden70.3@ironman.com . Our athlete service team will process requests as quickly as possible.
