The Norwegian double pack has struck: after Kristian Blummenfelt's triumph at the postponed World Championships in Utah in May 2022, Gustav Iden is now the winner of this year's IRONMAN World Championships HAWAII. Blummenfelt third this time. Frenchman Sam Laidlow almost threw a spanner in the works for the Norwegians. With a new bike record, he drove away from all his pursuers and was also able to maintain his lead in the marathon for a long time. The Norwegians in pursuit ran side by side until after 28 kilometers Iden was able to break away from his compatriot and training colleague. At kilometer 35 he then caught the leader Laidlow. With a new run record of 2:36:15h, Iden then reached the finish line in a new overall record time of 7:40:24h. Sebastian Kienle impressed with a strong performance at his last appearance in Hawaii and fought for sixth place. Patrick Lange and Florian Angert each received a 5-minute time penalty while cycling, but showed a fighter mentality and worked their way back up in the race. Lange once again demonstrated his outstanding qualities on the running course and secured a top 10 result, Angerte finished in 12th place.

The only thing that lasts for the men after this record day is Jan Sibbersen's swimming record (46:29min from 2018).
