Maurten sports nutrition - this is how the nutrition of professionals works

This is how it normally works: the food consumed is broken down in the stomach, pre-digested and then passed on to the intestines, where the actual absorption of the nutrients takes place. The stomach is the sensitive key organ, especially during sporting activity, and its function can be restricted by various factors, such as the posture in an aero position, the jolting caused by running or a very high level of exertion.

This is how the Maurten capsule technology works: The core of the Maurten products is the so-called hydrogel biopolymer, which forms as soon as the food components come into contact with the stomach acid. You have to imagine it like an airbag helmet, which inflates and wraps around your head only on impact. The hydrogel polymer works the same way: a pH-sensitive, three-dimensional network structure that can absorb water and is similar in appearance and behavior to a sponge. Such hydrogel structures are not new but are widely used in the food industry where they are used as thickening and gelling agents.

The big benefit for endurance athletes, however, is that Swedish scientists were the first to encapsulate the carbohydrate concentrate in these hydrogel capsules, making them "invisible" to the stomach. In the intestine, the structure then breaks up by itself, the carbohydrates are released and absorbed directly. The result is a higher absorption capacity, faster energy absorption and relief of the stomach without the production of excess gastric acid.

Drink Mix & Gel

On this well-founded scientific basis, a well-tolerated, high-energy drink mix was first developed in 2016, which was initially used primarily by top marathon runners. The high level of efficiency in top-class sports quickly became known and was also used by many other top athletes. Based on the functional principle of the drink mix, a gel was subsequently developed - with and without caffeine. No color additives, flavor enhancers or preservatives. Solid: the bars without hydrogel technology

The "Solid" products, i.e. bars, were completely newly developed. However, solid components cannot be protected by the hydrogel capsule. They are intended as a supplement for the hydrogel products (drink mix, gel). Especially when cycling, Solid is an excellent source of energy for rides at low to medium intensity and an effective snack before or after training. Maurten also relies on natural and energetically high-quality ingredients for the Solid bars: an oat and rice-based bar designed for performance.
