Training 2018: mehr Effizienz, weniger „Junk-Miles“

"Empty Kilometers" / "Junk Miles" - you can call them whatever you want, the result is the same: many endurance athletes complete a number of useless training kilometers that do not really help them progress because they are not a training stimulus for the body. Training content often becomes routine, which is then unwound again and again according to the same pattern. Wasted training time. After a certain period of getting used to it, such strains no longer pose a problem for your body because it has adjusted to this constant training content. Form building stagnates, you just burn a few calories. Therefore, such units are more of a peace of mind than targeted training units.

Increase training quality!

It doesn't matter whether you want to compete in your first triathlon or qualify for the Hawaiian qualification - the training for three disciplines is enormously extensive and usually has to be integrated into an already busy daily routine. This valuable training time should therefore be used as well as possible in order to be able to achieve your individual goals.

The concept of training in the narrower sense describes a goal-oriented process that is aimed at increasing performance through recurring adaptation processes. However, the body only goes through these adaptation processes when you present it with new, unfamiliar challenges.

workout of the week

It is precisely on this aspect that we want to focus in 2018. In our new section "Training of the week" we would like to give you incentive and motivation for your own training. Every week we present a new training unit that fits into the course of the year and season as an example. The focus is not on a certain distance or a specific level of performance, but we want to provide you with a wide range of training variations. For this purpose, both training experts and sports scientists have their say. But athletes should also share their most valuable units with us: Which training did I do well? What got me right? So no gray training theory awaits you here, but training units with a high level of practical relevance and a high degree of effectiveness.
