Saucony Canyon TR: Wie auf Schienen

Munich, February 11, 2021 - It's time to continue my blog again. The topic for the next few weeks and months is my training for the Ironman Kalmar 2021. My central question will be whether you can still deliver top performances in your late forties or what is still possible overall.

Material is the answer

But what's better than new material ;-). All of us are probably happy when we get one or the other material upgrade. That's why I let the Saucony Canyon TR out to match the snow and mud weather and would like to introduce it briefly.

Like on rails

Yesterday I turned an easy 10-kilometer lap. In the afternoon it started to snow and the Canyon TR was able to demonstrate its strengths in perfect trail conditions. In short, despite the snow and mud, the Canyon TR has super grip, "nothing slips" and you can make very good progress.

The Canyon TR also remains comfortable on the street or sidewalk. Since the profile of the lugs is relatively low at 3 mm (the Saucony Peregrine has 5 mm), it is not slippery on the road and is easy to walk on.

hardness

The sole is not overly thick, but still relatively hard. While I sometimes feel a rock or two on the ground with my favorite shoe, the Kinvara, the Canyon TR irons over all bumps. At the end of the 10 kilometers I felt the soles of my feet. It will definitely take a few more training sessions before I get completely used to the sole.

stability

Super, just as the shoe gives me security when running thanks to the good grip, this feeling is supported by the stability. This is super comfortable, especially on uneven or poorly recognizable ground, i.e. mud, snow or trail-like conditions. This stability allows you to enjoy the run and not have to pay attention to every step.

Conclusion

The Saucony Canyon TR is perfect if you are looking for a training shoe that allows you to run both on the road and on trail surfaces in the same training. As a runner, it gives me security, good grip and stability. However, compared to normal trainers, the slightly harder sole takes some getting used to, but this is not a major problem.

Although I picked up a puddle or two, my feet stayed nice and dry. Especially with the currently cooler temperatures, a dry foot is of course not only pleasant, but also important to get through the winter healthy.

All in all, the Canyon TR is a beautiful, successful shoe. Apart from the sole, which should be a bit softer for my taste, there is nothing to complain about.
