The Collins Cup is entering the second round: on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Bratislava, Slovakia, three teams with the best triathletes in the world will compete against each other. Will Team Europe be able to defend their title against Team US and Team International? We'll show you which favorites will be at the starting line tomorrow.
The top four men and women in the PTO world rankings automatically qualify for the Collins Cup. In addition, there are two male and two female Captain's Picks for each team, which can be selected independently of the PTO world rankings. These are athletes who are freely nominated by the team captains because they are currently in strong form.
The format
One athlete each from Team Europe, Team International and Team US will compete against each other in a three-way individual race - i.e. six women's and six men's races, each 10 minutes apart. Each race consists of a 2km swim, 80km bike ride and 18km run.
the captains
Normann Stadler and Natascha Badmann are responsible for Team Europe.
Norman Stadler is convinced that Team Europe will win the Collins Cup for a second time. His only question is whether Team US or Team International will get the Broken Spokes Trophy (last place).
Erin Baker and Craig Alexander oversee Team International.
Dave Scott and Julie Moss are in charge of Team US.
